(Part-Time)
Overview
Safe Harbor Boys Home is a highly respected Christian non-profit residential program serving adolescent boys through structured residential life, education, counseling, vocational training, and spiritual formation.
The Lead Residential Therapist plays a vital leadership role in overseeing the therapeutic program, ensuring clinical excellence, ethical care, and alignment with Safe Harbor’s Christian mission. This is an ideal opportunity for a licensed therapist with residential program experience who values relational, long-term care and desires to see lasting transformation in the lives of young men.
This is a part-time position (10–20 hours per week) with the potential to grow into a full-time role as the program expands.


What Residential Therapists Do at Safe Harbor
Residential therapists at Safe Harbor provide comprehensive, relationship-centered clinical care within a structured residential environment. Rather than high-volume outpatient work, therapists work with a small caseload and collaborate closely with houseparents, educators, and leadership.
Key areas of focus include:
- Individual, family, and group counseling
- Emotional regulation, anger management, and behavioral development
- Family systems, communication, and parenting support
- Self-esteem, identity development, and peer relationships
- Integration of evidence-based clinical practices with Christian principles
- Supporting residents’ progress through the Safe Harbor program model
Therapists walk alongside residents over time, allowing for meaningful therapeutic relationships and measurable growth.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a male, Florida-licensed therapist with residential experience who is:
- Clinically strong and ethically grounded
- Comfortable working in a faith-based environment
- Collaborative and team-oriented
- Passionate about mentoring and guiding adolescent boys
- Able to integrate evidence-based therapy with Christian worldview principles
A maritime or nautical background is preferred but not required.
Residential program experience is required for consideration.
Compensation & Benefits
Employment Type:
Part-Time (Anticipated 10–20 hours per week in 2026)
Opportunity for increased hours and potential transition to full-time based on performance, program growth, and organizational need.
Compensation:
- Hourly Rate: Negotiable based on experience and licensure
- Pay Range: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Benefits are not offered for part-time positions unless otherwise approved by Safe Harbor Boys Home policy
Qualification Requirements
Required Licensure (Florida)
Must hold a current Florida license as one of the following:
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
- Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the Florida Department of Education
- Minimum 3 years of clinical service delivery experience
- Minimum 2 years of residential program experience
- At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required Knowledge
- Human behavior, psychological assessment, counseling modalities, and treatment planning
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), integrated with Christian scripture and principles
- Group dynamics, family systems, and cultural considerations
- Counseling ethics, documentation standards, and professional conduct
- Psycho-educational instruction and treatment outcome evaluation
- Brain chemistry and the impact of diet, supplements, and substance use (Safe Harbor utilizes Amen Clinic protocols)
Essential Skills & Abilities
- Strong listening, assessment, and clinical reasoning skills
- Crisis management and intervention experience (including Baker Act procedures when required)
- Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary residential setting
- Leadership and staff development capabilities
- Clear written and verbal communication with families, residents, and staff
- Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and identify emerging concerns
