Overview

These dedicated men and women serve as the anchors of our residential program, living on campus aboard our program vessels to guide a small group of teenage boys through daily life, spiritual growth, and character development.

Being a Houseparent is more than a job, it’s a calling from on high. It is being a parent with all the responsibilities that entails. It’s waking up on the water, helping a boy through a hard day, teaching him how to work with his hands, or helping him understand the grace of second chances. It’s a lifestyle of service, discipleship, and community that transforms lives — including your own.

Living Arrangements & Lifestyle

Houseparents live on-site — aboard one of Safe Harbor’s vessels, in your own vessel or RV. Houseparents do not live aboard vessels with residents.

Work Schedules

Safe Harbor provides round the clock care for the program residents, therefore houseparents may work unusual schedules.  Currently, houseparents serve on a 14-day rotation, alternating one week of afternoon/evening shifts with day shifts then enjoy seven consecutive days off, offering meaningful time to recharge, travel, or reconnect with family and church community.
